Grimsby Town Football Club recently hosted King Charles for a visit to meet organizations supporting the local community. The monarch's stop at the club was part of his focus on community organizations. During his visit, a club staff member accidentally called the King 'darling' instead of 'Your Majesty,' but the King took the mistake in stride and replied, 'I like being called darling.' The King was described as 'so down to earth' and a 'lovely man' by the staff member. The visit was seen as 'so good' for the King to visit Grimsby Town Football Club. According to royal protocol, King Charles should be addressed as 'Your Majesty' in conversation and 'His Majesty' in writing. The royal couple's styling was upgraded upon the King's accession to the throne in September 2022, upon the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth. Prior to that point, they were known as Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, with HRH — short for His/Her Royal Highness — styling. The King and Queen Camilla also got special new regnal signatures when he acceded and the privilege to sign their names as 'Charles R' or 'Camilla R.' The 'R' stands for 'rex' or 'regina' in Latin, meaning 'King' or 'Queen,' and those signatures are often spotted on their official statements and documents.
