Grimsby Targeting Hull City Goalkeeper in Summer Transfer
Grimsby Town are keen to re-sign Hull City goalkeeper Harvey Cartwright, but face competition from Crawley Town. The Mariners are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season, with a 7th-place finish in League Two and 78 points from 46 games so far this campaign.
What's at stake for Grimsby?
Grimsby Town could do with another option between the sticks, with Christy Pym being the only senior player in that position. Youngster Seb Auton provides back-up, but Cartwright would be a solid addition to the squad if the Mariners are able to see off Crawley Town in pursuit of his signature.
Why Cartwright is a good fit for Grimsby
Cartwright knows the club already and wouldn't have to move far from Hull City, making him an attractive option for Grimsby Town. He has been on the books of Hull City for his whole career to date and has played three times for the Tigers.
What comes next for Grimsby?
Grimsby Town will have their sights set on League One again next term under the guidance of head coach David Artell. The Mariners made the play-offs last season but were beaten at the semi-finals stage by Salford City. With Cartwright's long-term future in East Yorkshire up in the air, Grimsby Town could try and tempt Hull City with a permanent offer.
Grimsby's current form
Grimsby Town are currently 7th in League Two, with 74 goals scored and 50 conceded (+24 goal difference) this season. They are 9 points behind leaders Bromley in the title race and have a recent form of 0W-3D-2L (DDLLD).
