Grimsby’s fostering team is set to make waves this summer as they participate in the town's first-ever dragon boat race. Scheduled for Sunday, July 12, at Alexandra Dock, this exciting event is organized by Grimsby Rotary and aims to foster community spirit while raising funds for a vital cause. The fostering team will paddle with purpose, supporting Comfort Cases UK, a charity dedicated to providing essential items for children entering care. This initiative replaces bin bags with backpacks filled with comfort and dignity, making a significant difference in the lives of vulnerable children. Local foster carers selected Comfort Cases based on their firsthand experiences of the challenges faced by children during sudden transitions. By joining this race, the team hopes to not only raise funds but also highlight the ongoing need for more foster carers in North East Lincolnshire. Events like the dragon boat race serve as powerful platforms to raise awareness about fostering and its transformative impact on young lives. Deb Tilby, a foster carer and committee member, emphasized the importance of providing children with belongings that are truly theirs during difficult times. Ann-Marie Matson, director of children’s services, expressed pride in the fostering team’s participation and the crucial support provided to children in need. Residents are encouraged to come out and cheer for the team as they take to the water for this meaningful cause.
