Géza Dávid Turi has signed a new two-year contract with Grimsby Town, keeping the midfielder at Blundell Park until the summer of 2028. The deal includes an option for a further year, securing a key player for the club's push in League Two, where they currently sit sixth with 10 points from six unbeaten games.

The 24-year-old deep-lying midfielder, who joined from Faroese side Víkingur in January 2025, has featured in all six of Grimsby's league fixtures this season. His new commitment follows his first goal for the club, a long-range strike in the 2-0 victory over Bristol Rovers last Friday. That result extended Grimsby's unbeaten run to five matches, a sequence of one win and four draws.

Head Coach David Artell highlighted Turi's development as central to the decision. "Géza has made excellent progress during his time with us, and we believe he has considerable potential to develop further," Artell said. "We look forward to continuing to support his development and working together to achieve our shared ambitions with Grimsby Town."

Turi has made 40 league appearances for the Mariners since his arrival. Before moving to England, he built a strong reputation in the Faroe Islands, making almost 150 appearances for Víkingur, scoring eight goals, and winning the Premier League title in 2024. That year he was also named the league's Midfielder of the Year.

Internationally, the player earned his first senior cap for the Faroe Islands in September 2025 and scored his maiden international goal two months later. He remains a regular in their squad for UEFA Nations League fixtures.

For Grimsby, securing Turi's services provides stability in midfield as they aim to close a two-point gap to leaders Barnet. The team's solid start, conceding just six goals while scoring nine, offers a platform for the campaign ahead. Supporters can track the upcoming schedule on the club's fixtures page and view the full squad list, including Turi's updated contract status, on the squad page.

"I’m really happy to have signed this new contract," Turi said. "I’ve enjoyed my time at Grimsby so far and I feel like I’ve developed a lot since I first arrived at the Club." His next opportunity to feature comes as Grimsby look to maintain their unbeaten form in the league.
